OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE
The Senior Center Coordinator is responsible for the overall operation of the Chanhassen Senior Center, including planning, organizing, and supervising a diverse range of recreational, educational, social, and wellness programs for the City’s 55+ community. This role fosters a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports active aging, lifelong learning, and social connection. The position serves as the primary staff liaison to the Commission on Aging and works closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure programming reflects the interests, needs, and contributions of Chanhassen’s older adults.
PAYExpected Hiring Range $34.01-$37.17 hourly ($70,740-$77,313 annually)
Full Salary Range: $34.01-$44.38 hourly ($70,740-$92,310 annually)

- Plan and contract with speakers, entertainers, caterers, theater venues, restaurants, museums, etc. to create smooth programs, event or trip experiences for patrons.
- Maintain a system of coordination, supervision and communication with volunteers, appropriate city staff, local businesses, civic organizations, and others in gathering resources and assistance as needed for successful event completion.
- Create and implement programs or events which invite new and existing Senior Center participants to build community connections and social networks, as well as gain knowledge in how to age well in Chanhassen.
- Oversee scheduling of Senior Center rooms for outside groups as well as senior programs.
- Annually prepare, recommend, and administer a budget reflecting the expenses and revenues consistent with the Senior Center’s goals and needs.
- Keep accurate records and statistics as needed for public records and reporting requirements.
- Create quarterly reports and present them to the City of Chanhassen’s Park and Recreation Commission.
- Contribute data and program summaries for the Parks and Recreation Annual Report.
- Seek funding, as able, through fundraising and grant opportunities.
- Build partnerships and sponsor ships with local businesses and organizations for donations which help fund individual event/program costs.
- Coordinate with the city’s Communications Team to create copy for brochures, posters, flyers, the Chanhassen Connection, and social media posts which promote Senior Center programs and events.
- Oversee weekly eblast updates using Gov Delivery system to encourage participation for newcomers.
- Input and manage event descriptions and registrations through the City’s registration site (currently Active Net).
- Ensure printed information is available for patrons at the front desk as well as at the Library and Recreation Center.
- Recruit volunteers and train for various tasks in the Senior Center space.
- Work closely with current Commission on Aging members and existing volunteers in their roles, encouraging their assistance during both small and large events along with coordinating the annual appreciation event.
- Provide initial onboarding and training to new Commissioners.
- Arrange and moderate monthly meetings.
- Work with chairperson to set the agendas and prepare applicable information for the Commissioners.
- Oversee setting annual goals and objectives, and update onboarding documents as needed
- Coordinate Commission sponsored annual events, including Memorial Day Veterans table, 4th of July Bingo Event, and Alzheimers Awareness resource table.
