Are you a master of your craft with an eye for detail and a passion for building? Murphy Bros. Design|Build|Remodel has spent 43 years making life better for our homeowners — not just different — and we're looking for a Lead Carpenter to help lead that work in the field.
As a Lead Carpenter, you'll be the hands-on expert and the steady leader on our jobsites, executing high-quality carpentry yourself while guiding and mentoring the crew around you. You'll be the person a homeowner trusts to get it right, and the person your team looks to when something needs solving.
WHAT YOU'LL DO Project Oversight- Review, set up, and execute projects from start to finish, keeping materials and tools organized and on hand
- Troubleshoot site issues as they arise and keep work moving
- Train and oversee carpenters, laborers, and on-site trades
- Frame, install doors and windows, and complete trim, cabinetry, flooring, and other structural or finish work
- Operate hand tools, machines, and power tools with precision and care
- Enforce jobsite safety protocols and keep the worksite clean and organized
- Understand project requirements, timelines, and budgets, and interpret specs, sketches, and building plans
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and make sure resources are used efficiently
- Communicate with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, and other trades to share updates and resolve issues
- Complete progress reports, work logs, and material records, and communicate change orders
- Serve as a front-line point of contact for homeowners and uphold our quality standards from start to finish
- 5+ years of experience with mastered knowledge of all aspects of carpentry
- High school diploma or equivalent required; formal training in carpentry or drafting/blueprint reading and trade certifications are a plus
- The ability to guide, instruct, and motivate others
- Proficiency in project planning, execution, and coordination
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Monday through Friday workweek
- Jobsites within the 7-county metro area
