Structural Fitter

Schneider Wallace Cottrell Konecky LLP (SWCK LLP), traditionally known for its litigation prowess, is expanding its logistical capabilities within the maritime sector to enhance our support in cases involving maritime law, including those associated with shipbuilding and repair. We are seeking an experienced Structural Fitter who will focus on the precise construction and repair of ship structures. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity and safety of maritime vessels, aligning with our commitment to excellence in every aspect of our operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing blueprints and specifications to determine the size and shape of required structural components for maritime vessels.
• Fabricating, positioning, aligning, and fitting parts of structural metal products.
• Preparing and aligning metalwork pieces for assembly, using straightedges, rulers, and calipers.
• Designing and constructing templates and fixtures, providing feedback to improve processes.
• Using hand welding and flame-cutting equipment to fabricate or repair products.
• Inspecting assembled items for structural quality, conformance to specifications, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Collaborating with project managers and engineers to ensure optimal workmanship and efficiency.

Required Skills

• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Skilled in various types of welding techniques and metal fabrication
• Strong mathematical skills to perform precise calculations.
• Ability to use heavy machinery and tools such as shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
