This position will be a Crane and Rigging Technician tasked to operating safely and efficiently in maintaining mobile and overhead cranes. This is accomplished by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any job plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities. Your work environment will be in an industrial facility where exposure to outdoor weather conditions is possible and where proper personal protective equipment is required.

Day in the Life
  • Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
  • Promote an environment in which everyone is treated with respect
  • Ability and knowledge to operate and perform required monthly and annual inspections
  • Perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing and oiling machines and equipment
  • Comply with company policies and procedures regarding lifts as per site procedures
  • Ensure that the proper matting is used during all lifts
  • Validate proper rigging prior to making all lifts
  • Ensures site crane and rigging procedures are followed and implemented
  • Complete Initial Inspection on rigging equipment and hardware and complete all required documentation
  • Coordinate with the site supervisor to ensure all proper lifting plans are in order and followed prior to applicable lifts
  • Conduct equipment inspections as per ASME and OSHA for cranes for the site
  • Conduct inspections for JLG, forklifts and mobile cranes
  • Review and approve lifts and ensure all areas are barricaded prior to any overhead lift as a DCCP (Designated Crane Competent Person)
  • Fully participate in health, safety, quality and environmental processes
  • Engage in frequent developmental dialog with supervisor and others to continually enhance personal and group performance and development
  • Acquiring all necessary instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency
  • Conduct pre-lift meetings before ALL lifts
You Bring This Value
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience operating cranes between 8.5 tons - 150 tons capacity cranes in the petrochemical or refining industry
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain the Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Must have an NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) Certification for TSS Fixed cab and TLL Swing cab NCCER mobile crane certification
  • NCCER intermediate rigging or NCCCO certification Rigging level 1 or 2
  • Must be able to read and write the English language
  • Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage and respond to plant call-outs
  • Must be willing to work around and/or interact with heavy equipment
  • Must be willing to work outside, year round under various weather conditions
  • Must be willing to work in an environment with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training and equipment)
  • Possess a strong knowledge of crane and rigging activities and requirements for safe operation
