Position: Trailer Mechanic 2

We are looking for an energetic, reliable Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Channelview, TX. We are a dynamic, stable and growing company with great long‑term career opportunities across our headquarters, trucking terminals, mechanic shops, depots, tank washes and other locations.

Job Summary

Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi‑truck trailers and tractors, including brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more. Work out of a service truck and adhere to strict safety regulations, DOT, federal and state requirements, and company standards. Use technical publications or automated systems to maintain vehicles per manufacturer maintenance schedules and record all maintenance in maintenance management software.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
  • Perform annual and 90‑day inspections on trailers as required.
  • Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
  • Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and shop.
  • Identify and order parts and supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety (OSHA) and environmental policies, including proper handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Clean, organize, and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
  • Use welding equipment as required.
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience in tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • At least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or vocational school completion.
  • Physical ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs; fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome; meet fall protection harness requirements; stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
