Position: Industrial Blaster / Painter

Schneider Wallace Cottrell Konecky LLP (SWSLP), traditionally known as a high-stakes litigation law firm, is now expanding its operational capacities in the maritime sector, aimed at protecting marine labor rights and maintaining the integrity of maritime safety standards. We are seeking a skilled Industrial Blaster / Painter to join our Maritime Maintenance Facility. The successful candidate will be instrumental in performing critical surface preparation and coating applications on maritime vessels, ensuring longevity and compliance with marine safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surface areas of ships and other maritime vessels for painting using sandblasting, hydro-blasting, or other techniques to clean and remove old paint and rust.
  • Apply paint, varnishes, and coatings to various surfaces on ships, paying attention to specific maritime standards and environmental considerations.
  • Select, mix, and apply appropriate protective coatings to surfaces according to atmospheric conditions and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain equipment used in painting and blasting operations, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
  • Practice and uphold safety guidelines and protocols to avoid injury and accidents, adhering closely to both legal and operational safety standards.
  • Inspect and perform minor repairs on blasting and painting equipment.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and plan painting operations in alignment with maritime operations.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in various blasting techniques and familiarity with industrial paint application and surface preparation.
  • Ability to mix and apply marine coatings and understanding of paint mixing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols related to hazardous materials handling and operations.
  • Good physical condition and ability to perform labor-intensive tasks in various environmental conditions.
