Overview
This isn’t your typical Assistant Controller role — instead of sitting in one company doing the same monthly cycle, you’ll work across multiple clients. Different businesses, different challenges, and a more hands-on, strategic role that builds a broader skill set.
Title:
Assistant Controller
Salary: $125,000 – $140,000 + Bonus
Location:
Northern VA
- This isn’t your typical Assistant Controller role — you’ll work across multiple clients with different businesses and challenges, providing a more hands-on, strategic experience.

- Own monthly close and financial reporting across multiple client engagements
- Oversee full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, GL, cash management)
- Manage and review work of accounting staff (billing, AP, GL teams)
- Support and coordinate external audits (financial, bank, 401k)
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to clients
- Troubleshoot and resolve accounting and reporting issues
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8–10+ years of Deltek Costpoint experience
- Experience in government contracting (Gov Con) accounting
- Strong background in financial reporting, audits, and full-cycle accounting
- Experience overseeing accounting functions and staff
- US Citizenship required due to government contracting requirements
- Stable work history (no frequent short-term roles)
- Experience supporting multiple clients or entities
- Background in consulting or outsourced accounting environments
- Experience with Quick Books, JAMIS, or Unanet
- Experience with internal controls and compliance environments
- CPA
