Assistant Director — Early Learning School

Children’s Lighthouse of Chantilly | Chantilly, VA

Full-Time | In-Person

Children’s Lighthouse of Chantilly is hiring an experienced Assistant Director to support daily operations, teacher leadership, family communication, licensing compliance, and school systems. This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for a strong, experienced school administrator. The right person is warm with families, steady with teachers, strong with systems, and serious about follow-through.

Responsibilities
  • Support daily operations, staffing, ratios, opening/closing, and classroom coverage
  • Maintain and improve school systems, trackers, checklists, calendars, and follow-up processes
  • Ensure staff use established systems consistently
  • Support licensing compliance, documentation, inspections, and policy follow-through
  • Coach teachers with empathy, clarity, and accountability
  • Communicate professionally with families and handle concerns appropriately
  • Support tours, enrollment follow-up, and family relationships
  • Assist with classroom observations, teacher feedback, and behavior guidance
  • Step into Director duties when the Director is unavailable
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of early childhood administration, school administration, childcare leadership, or related admin leadership experience
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred
  • Prior Assistant Director, Director, Program Coordinator, Operations Lead, Curriculum Lead, or similar leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Strong systems, documentation, organization, and follow-through skills
  • Experience with licensing compliance, staff supervision, and parent communication
  • Must meet Virginia childcare employment requirements, including background checks
