  • 40 hours per week, entirely classroom-based with K-3 students

Your structured-literacy certification — whether Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading instruction — has opened the door to every K-3 reading position you've pursued. In most roles, that credential also marked the limit: you delivered a prescribed program and documented results. At Alpha, the credential is where you begin. If that difference resonates with you, continue reading.

Alpha has reimagined traditional teaching. Students work through academic content autonomously using AI-adaptive applications. There are no lectures, textbooks, or pacing calendars. Your position represents the irreplaceable human element. You build 20-minute small-group workshops based on live app data; sessions are intentionally brief, because targeted instruction outperforms duration. You also lead motivation sessions designed to ensure 100% of your students reach their weekly app targets through Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate gamification).

You catch a student's error during a session, identify the underlying phonemic deficit, and reconfigure the next day's workshop before you leave. That is the expectation.

Families enrolling at these campuses have selected Alpha for measurable progress, not mere enrollment. Parents receive weekly updates on their child's reading development, and they engage actively. You will field specific questions about individual student advancement, and vague reassurances will not suffice. You must reference the running record, specify the phonemic challenge, and describe your intervention. This level of accountability should energize you, not exhaust you.

Your initial months center on proving your impact. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective; student satisfaction and  love your Guide  survey scores (target 90%+) directly reflect this. Once you establish credibility, your influence expands beyond your own classroom: strategies that succeed with your students become templates for other Alpha campuses, and your diagnostic precision inform how reading is taught as Alpha scales.

Your contributions reach far beyond your immediate environment.

Before an offer is extended, you will submit a short video narrating an engaging story for young children, and you will complete a full day on campus working directly with K-3 students. Low energy with children disqualifies candidates regardless of credential strength. That is intentional.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Creating small-group K-3 reading workshops informed by real-time adaptive-app data, rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or comparable)
  • Facilitating daily motivation sessions to ensure 100% of your students meet their weekly app objectives using Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
  • Analyzing AI-generated performance metrics (fluency trajectories, decoding precision, comprehension indicators) to modify instruction during the day, not solely during planning periods
  • Conducting running records, fluency assessments, and decoding evaluations to generate progress visible in the weekly campus data meeting
  • Serving as the engaging, high-energy adult your K-3 students are excited to see daily
What You Won't Be Doing
  • Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district pacing calendar; you create lessons based on student data
  • Teaching whole-class lessons; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete academic subjects through adaptive applications
  • Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach, or district-level specialist; you work directly with students in the classroom every day
  • Managing a conventional classroom schedule: subject-by-subject lectures, homework correction, test preparation. Your time is allocated to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups
  • Drafting IEPs, 504 plans, or formal diagnostic evaluations; student progress is documented through app data and your running records, not special-education forms
