Director of Commissioning (Electrical) - Data Centers Chantilly, VA (on-site)
This is a good moment to step into commissioning - the platform is winning bigger hyperscale work, expanding into new regions, and now wants a commissioning leader who can help shape how delivery looks at scale.
Our client is a well‑established US digital infrastructure engineering business with approx 900 engineers nationally and an active footprint across Northern Virginia, Kansas City, and Cheyenne.
The design horsepower is already there. What they’re doing now is rounding out the leadership on the commissioning side - bringing in someone who can sit comfortably with senior operators, owners, and GC teams, and guide electrical commissioning the way it’s meant to be done.
The RoleYou’ll join as Director of Commissioning (back filling a well-regarded leader in the function), based in Chantilly, VA. This isn’t a "review and approve" role, it’s a hands‑on leadership position with genuine decision‑making influence. As more capacity and regions come online, the scope expands naturally.
What you’ll ownYou’ll lead commissioning strategy and execution across electrical systems - with a mandate that includes both delivery and growth support:
- Owning commissioning plans and execution approach on hyperscale / mission critical programs
- Leading conversations around load bank strategy, electrical testing, sequencing, and risk
- Writing and shaping MOPs, commissioning plans, and technical narratives that hold up in the field
- Supporting proposals and pursuits - helping the team show up credibly in front of clients
- Being the calm technical voice when timelines tighten and complexity stacks up
Travel is part of it, but it’s sensible and tied to active work - mainly No
VA, KC, Cheyenne.
This will suit someone who’s been close enough to hyperscale commissioning to have real pattern recognition:
- Strong electrical commissioning experience in large‑scale data centers / critical environments
- Comfortable operating peer‑to‑peer with senior stakeholders
- The kind of person teams lean on when testing plans, MOPs, or sequencing actually matter
You’ll have autonomy, visibility, and a clean runway - in a platform with real scale and momentum.
If you want to influence how commissioning is delivered (and sold) nationally, this is a rare seat with enough room to actually do it.
