Role SummaryWe are seeking a Network Engineer 3 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the (SES) Strategic Business Unit, you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audiovisual, IT systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.
ResponsibilitiesThe Network Engineer 3 is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing network solutions to ensure maximum uptime. Responsibilities include designing system configurations, documenting and managing pre-installation and testing of a new network, and performing upgrades to hardware and software as required.
Technical Responsibilities- Survey reports: measure results in actionable form for senior personnel and management.
- Conduct surveys, inspections, tours, etc. of client sites as required.
- Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices.
- Work with field engineers to simulate system-level performance and provide feedback on potential improvements.
- Assist senior network engineers to identify and resolve network security issues.
- Develop network designs for each SLA classification.
- Originates design documents for small projects and supports large programs.
- Assist in preparing designs, including Narrative Design Documents, Systems Designs, Subsystem Designs (CAD / Panels / Layouts / Wiring / Hardware / Communications).
- Prepare specifications, perform QA/QC, and conduct technical reviews of designs.
- Comment resolution, testing & commissioning review/approval of test plans (Safety / Risk / Manufacturability).
- Author test plans; lead/supervise testing activities.
- Author testing/commissioning procedures and preparation of test reports.
- Commissioning of deployed systems; development of test fixtures and simulation devices.
- Design and perform complete system integration tests.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex network problems; recommend operational efficiency improvements.
- Preventative maintenance (software/hardware/firmware upgrades) including security updates and performance upgrades.
- Originate and submit maintenance plans and provide rollback plans.
- Serve as backup for team members during paid time off.
- Perform hardware/software upgrades and replacements on existing systems.
- Document crucial working procedures and troubleshooting of network operations.
- Moderate understanding of network administration as related to business operations.
- Assist team members in identifying and resolving basic/moderate Network/Telecom issues.
- Interpret and analyze results versus established benchmarks and goals.
- Work with project managers to meet expectations for Network tasks; complete project tasks on time.
- Contribute to the team and related teams through quality and accuracy of output.
- Perform research on available technologies and products as needed by Operations or Project managers.
- Prepare cost estimates and supporting documents for projects.
- Assist in preparation of bids, proposals, and pricing of change orders.
- Assist in developing and adapting documents, procedures, and formal processes for the Network Engineering team.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to define work/interfaces.
- CCNP Certification is required.
- Provide networking equipment inventory management and documentation of network information (switching/routing equipment, IP-addressable devices, cabling).
- Provide expert support services to augment network engineering staff.
- Assist with day-to-day network maintenance including installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of switched networks and equipment.
