Job SummaryThis position involves responsibility for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and associated collection systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and efficient plant performance. It also involves overall understanding of the WWTP activated sludge process control, equipment operation & maintenance of aeration blowers, submersible pumps, belt filter press, tertiary filters, laboratory analysis, collection system lift stations operation & maintenance, including WW manholes, grease traps, oil‑water separators, porta toilets.
Roles and Responsibilities- Lead the creation of organization structure and processes required to fully execute the requirements of services and have overall responsibility for the execution of Wastewater Treatment services, quality performance, equipment operation and cost.
- Responsible for the execution and compliance of wastewater standard testing, wastewater sampling, maintaining logs and equipment readings.
- Advises management on issues, impacts, risks.
- Coordinates and oversees the service line work at the WWTP site handling more complex, hazardous, and/or high‑profile jobs providing quality service to the customer.
- Provides the planning necessary for the job including instructions to the crew and equipment used.
- Conduct laboratory analysis: ensure collection and analyzing of samples and monitoring process performance and compliance with discharge permits (e.g., pH, DO, BOD, TSS, nutrients).
- Operate, inspect, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment such as aeration blowers, submersible pumps, belt filter presses, tertiary filters.
- Evaluate individual performance levels of crew and train operators to improve job performance.
- Maintain and optimize the activated sludge process, including monitoring of biological treatment parameters and process adjustments to achieve treatment goals.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection system, including lift stations, manholes, grease traps, oil‑water separators, portable toilets.
- Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Emphasize safety to employees.
- Must possess a valid & current WW Operators certificate equivalent to the highest wastewater certification grade/class level issued by the Wastewater Works Operators Certification Board of Examiners (Class 4, 5 or Class
A). - College Environmental degree preferred, with 8+ years of direct experience including 5+ years supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document, chapter 4 Wastewater.
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling & storage.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Must possess a passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and 4 blank visa/stamp pages.
- Must hold a valid driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
- Exceptional skills within the service line and a general understanding of other service functions.
- Ability to work effectively in a high‑pressure environment with multiple interruptions/distractions.
- Excellent customer relations, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in an extreme environment.
