Senior AI​/ML Engineer

The Advanced Systems Department is seeking a Sr. AI/ML Engineer (Sr. Project Engineer - Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning) to work on leading research and development challenges for future ISR architectures. This position requires 100% on-site work in Chantilly, VA.

• Lead a portfolio of projects applying AI/ML expertise to support development of new ISR capabilities.
• Coordinate a team of technical contributors and act as spokesperson to customers.
• Identify novel AI/ML-based solutions for enterprise level problems.
• Explore solutions for ensuring trust in autonomy applications.
• Explore solutions to ease transition of new tools from R&D demonstrations to baseline systems.
• Work directly with government, other FFRDC, and SETA staff to design and implement roadmaps and strategies.
• Develop effective recommendations and strategies to advance the customer vision.

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering, mathematics, or science field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in aerospace, defense, or related technical fields.
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques or advanced analytical methods to complex technical problems.
• Experience utilizing a diverse range of capabilities to solve technical problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and presentations.
• Proactive approach to problem‑solving with ability to work autonomously in ambiguous environments.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with government stakeholders and leadership.
• Current and active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph issued by the U.S. government.
• U.S. citizenship required.

• Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, or science field.

• Involvement with research and development organizations.
