Role Summary
The Aerospace Corporation is a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) working on space programs across satellite, launch, ground and cyber systems. The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) and its Space Enterprise Design and Optimization Department (SEDOD) focus on performance modeling, analysis and optimization of orbits, mission architectures and acquisition portfolios.
Responsibilities- Conduct deep‑dives, trade studies, and assessments to address customer needs in space architecture design and optimization.
- Use in‑house and commercial engineering analysis tools to deliver technical insights through analytical deep dives, trade studies and assessments.
- Develop and enhance analysis software tools and simulation capabilities for a broad range of customers.
- Prepare and present technical presentations and reports that communicate analysis results and recommend solutions to technical leads, management and customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cross‑organization partners, government customers and contractor teammates.
- B.S. in aerospace, astronautical, mechanical engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or 2+ years of relevant professional or academic experience.
- Experience with constellation design, orbital mechanics, or satellite access geometry.
- Proficiency in Python, C, C++, MATLAB, or another programming language.
- Track record of making effective contributions to technical analysis or development projects.
- Ability to support multiple programs and act as a technical contributor across individual and team efforts.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI polygraph. U.S. citizenship is required.
- Advanced degree or extensive work experience in a relevant field.
- Background in national security space or intelligence mission areas such as geo‑spatial intelligence, signals intelligence, space surveillance, space protection, ground systems, or communications infrastructure.
- Experience with optimization techniques, genetic algorithms, space mission design, satellite constellation performance modeling, satellite orbit access analysis, simulation development, or payload/bus design.
- Independent experience creating, executing and debugging modeling and simulation tools.
- Current TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.
