The role involves end-to-end payload development for spaceflight systems, including requirements derivation, architecture definition, subsystem integration, flight readiness verification, and environmental qualification (thermal, vibration, radiation). The candidate will lead systems engineering activities across multiple payload programs, collaborating with government clients and industry partners to shape next-generation space systems for national security missions.
Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end payload development efforts, including requirements derivation, architecture definition, subsystem integration, flight readiness verification, and environmental qualification.
- Conduct rigorous trade studies, define system-level requirements and interfaces, identify architecture gaps, risks, and technology opportunities to deliver resilient payloads.
- Model, assess, and optimize end-to-end space payload solutions; collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and mission domain experts.
- Collaborate with government clients and industry partners; contribute to technical white papers, capability demonstrations, and proposals.
- Provide leadership across multiple efforts, driving successful delivery of advanced space systems and shaping the direction of the space business.
- 3+ years of experience supporting national security space programs in SIGINT or GEOINT mission areas.
- Experience in design, development, integration, and verification of payloads for spaceflight systems.
- Experience with space vehicle design/manufacture practices, payload integration, and proto-flight testing of space vehicle systems.
- Experience executing systems engineering processes across the full lifecycle for satellite space systems (requirements development through operational deployment).
- Experience with descriptive modeling tools (e.g., Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Magic Draw).
- Experience developing analytical or automation scripts using MATLAB, Python, or VBA.
