Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Mechanical Engineer – provide engineering review, coordination, and oversight for operations, maintenance, repair, and construction work. Coordinate activities with trade shops, prioritize work, review ongoing projects, inspect installed equipment, and oversee work orders, service orders, and projects. Plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases, manage schedule, funding, and day-to-day oversight, and evaluate contractor performance. Provide technical guidance on contracting and construction issues, direct design efforts, and ensure project objectives are achieved on schedule and at the lowest cost compatible with user requirements.

Ensure timely input of data and documentation into the MAXIMO software project management tool and integrate all systems including building, HVAC, and plumbing.

• Plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases of significant projects and coordinate engineers and technical support staff.
• Manage project design or construction efforts, including schedule, funding, and day-to-day oversight.
• Manage and evaluate construction contractor performance and integrate projects with field personnel.
• Evaluate, validate, and manage project change requests; provide weekly project status reports.
• Assist contracting officer and contracting officer's technical representative with acquisition planning, execution, and administration.
• Assist with pre-bid and pre-construction site visits; provide invoice supporting information for payment.
• Prepare and monitor project schedules; provide technical guidance on contracting and construction issues.
• Direct design efforts and oversee follow-on maintenance programs; optimize performance, cost, and schedule.
• Ensure data entry into MAXIMO and integration of systems (building, HVAC, plumbing).

• 5+ years of experience as a facilities professional.
• 2+ years of experience in an assigned field, including mechanical systems or construction.
• Experience with the implementation or execution of design documents.
• Experience reviewing design documentation and identifying deficiencies, inaccuracies, and noncompliance with the design intent.
• Ability to evaluate conditions and draft engineering memos that provide sound engineering guidance consistent with industry best practices and codes.
• Ability to review and perform engineering calculations.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
• HS diploma or GED.

• Experience with MAXIMO.
• Experience with new and existing building systems.
• Experience with site surveys and calculations.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, International Building Code, and NFPA publications related to mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of CAD systems, AutoCAD, or REVIT.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree a plus).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
• LEED Certification.
• EIT Certification.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by factors including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800 to $198,000 (annualized USD). The posting will close within 90 days from the posting date.
