Kavaliro is seeking a Senior Financial Management & Accounting Subject Matter Expert (CPA) to provide expert-level financial management support within a Federal Government environment. This position requires an experienced financial professional with deep knowledge of federal accounting principles, appropriations law, financial reporting, auditing, and fiscal oversight. The selected candidate will support senior leadership by delivering strategic financial guidance, ensuring compliance with federal financial regulations, and developing analytical solutions that improve financial operations and decision-making.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience working within complex federal financial environments, demonstrates exceptional analytical and communication skills, and is capable of briefing executive leadership on highly technical financial matters.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level financial management, accounting, and fiscal oversight supporting federal programs and initiatives.
  • Analyze complex financial data and develop reports, recommendations, and forecasts to support executive decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and all applicable federal financial regulations.
  • Interpret and apply Federal appropriations law and agency financial policies to ensure proper stewardship of government funds.
  • Perform financial analysis, reconciliations, budget execution reviews, and accounting oversight across multiple funding sources.
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures that ensure financial data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Research financial issues and provide recommendations to resolve complex accounting, budgeting, and fiscal management challenges.
  • Support acquisition and funding activities by applying knowledge of federal financial management processes throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Prepare executive-level briefings, presentations, and reports for senior government leadership and financial stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with directorates, finance offices, acquisition personnel, and external financial organizations to resolve financial issues and improve business processes.
  • Manage multiple priorities while supporting evolving mission requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Provide exceptional customer support by responding to financial inquiries and advising leadership on financial impacts and recommended courses of action.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Minimum of 11 years of professional accounting, financial management, auditing, fiscal control, or related federal financial experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Federal GAAP, FASAB, and FASB accounting standards.
  • Expert knowledge of Federal appropriations law and federal financial management regulations.
  • Strong understanding of federal funding, accounting, acquisition, and financial execution processes.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex financial analysis, reporting, auditing, and fiscal oversight.
  • Proven ability to identify financial risks, develop corrective actions, and provide strategic financial recommendations.
  • Experience interacting with senior executives, government leadership, and financial stakeholders.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present highly technical financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), or other Federal Government agencies.
  • Knowledge of federal financial systems, budget execution, and acquisition planning.
  • Experience supporting executive-level financial reviews, audits, and compliance initiatives.
  • Familiarity with enterprise financial reporting and performance management processes.
