Rehabilitation Technician

The Rehabilitation Services Technician adheres to facility policy in the maintenance of patient care areas, equipment, and supplies. Assists with the patient care under the guidance/direction of a licensed rehab professional while demonstrating essential skill competencies in the use of patient care modalities. Communicates effectively via written and verbal communication with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.

Completes all administrative and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean, safe and orderly treatment area and maintains equipment upkeep and inventory; maintains supplies at the appropriate par levels and in established time frames at the direction of the supervisor.
• Assists with the provision of treatment under the guidance/direction of a licensed rehab professional.
• Effectively prepares and arranges supplies for the patient care.
• Adheres to the established guidelines for patient care by the licensed rehab professional.
• Utilizes precautions for safety during the provision of services
• Contacts licensed rehab professional if there are any changes in patient condition or changes in responses to services.
• Communicates appropriate information to patients and families regarding patients' status while deferring to licensed rehab professional when appropriate.
• Provides appropriate education methods/materials to patients at their level of understanding and motivation.
• Demonstrates collaboration in communication with team members while remaining open to feedback and receptive to change.
• Completes documentation according to program, clinic and department guidelines.
• Contacts licensed rehab professional and effectively communicates patient needs in a timely manner to facilitate effective treatment and safety.
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and knowledge regarding supplies and equipment.
• Maintains productivity standards set by the program, department and clinic and makes effective use of non-scheduled time.
• Conducts rehabilitation and therapeutic procedures under the guidance/direction of a licensed rehab professional.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
