Job Overview

Labcorp is seeking an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This is a 1st shift position with approximately 10% travel to other Labcorp sites.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan, and manage EHS programs to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operations.
  • Work directly with each location’s leadership teams to influence employees, set direction and vision, and provide support at all levels.
  • Oversee EHS operations for one or more Labcorp locations, which may include laboratories, patient service centers, in‑office phlebotomists, branches, or stat labs within an assigned region.
  • Manage and administer environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporate initiatives, and company objectives.
  • Implement strategies to assess and prevent applicable EHS‑related risks (waste management, fire protection, infectious disease, etc.).
  • Serve as the technical lead for industrial hygiene, biosafety, laboratory safety, occupational health, chemical management, and waste management.
  • Ensure sites accurately characterize waste streams and manage programs safely, responsibly, and compliantly.
  • Partner with site management to achieve EHS goals (accident rates, training participation, etc.) and regulatory requirements (assessments, plans, training, etc.).
  • Lead the EHS Committee and team activities, such as department safety teams and emergency response teams.
  • Manage incident investigations and report EHS‑related information into the company’s EHS management system.
  • Ensure medical care is provided for work‑related injuries and illnesses.
  • Respond to site EHS emergency situations, including fires, explosions, chemical releases, and medical incidents, with proper training.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and deliver an effective and compliant EHS training program.
  • Monitor EHS regulatory developments and determine applicability to the site.
  • Initiate, establish, and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external clients by communicating and influencing at multiple levels to achieve results.
  • Act as liaison between Labcorp and regulatory authorities during site inspections.
  • Partner with facilities and other groups to ensure construction or renovation activities incorporate EHS considerations.
  • Work with contracted insurance agencies to continually improve EHS programs via hosting inspections and implementing recommendations.
  • Conduct routine site audits and reviews to identify systemic EHS management gaps, develop corrective measures, and implement solutions to sustain compliance with regulatory and Labcorp requirements; ensure timely correction of findings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • 3 or more years of experience with program or project management.
  • 8 or more years of experience with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 or more years of experience with Environment, Health and Safety in a laboratory setting.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) certification.
  • American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) certification or training.

Pay Range and Incentives

Annual salary range: $100,000 – $125,000 (USD). The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan, payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and individual performance modifiers.
