Talent Acquisition Specialist - Skilled Trades
Location: Chantilly, VA
Salary: $75,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience
Schedule: Full-time, day shift
About the OpportunityKodiak Labor Solutions is seeking an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist to recruit skilled professionals within the commercial and industrial construction industries.
This position will focus heavily on recruiting for HVAC service and installation, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, maintenance, ductwork, and sheet metal positions
. The ideal candidate has at least three years of recruiting experience, understands the skilled-trades labor market, and can confidently manage multiple requisitions, hiring managers, candidates, and locations.
We are looking for a proactive recruiter who can build strong candidate pipelines, develop trusted partnerships with hiring managers, and take ownership of the recruiting process from initial sourcing through placement and onboarding.
What You’ll Do- Manage full-cycle recruiting for skilled-trades and construction positions.
- Recruit HVAC service technicians, HVAC installers, electricians, plumbers, mechanical technicians, maintenance technicians, sheet metal mechanics, duct installers, and other field-based professionals.
- Partner with multiple hiring managers to understand staffing needs, technical requirements, project demands, and hiring priorities.
- Source candidates through Indeed, Linked In Recruiter, job boards, social media, referrals, existing databases, trade schools, and direct outreach.
- Conduct detailed phone screens to evaluate technical experience, certifications, work history, location, compensation expectations, availability, and overall fit.
- Independently review résumés and determine whether candidates meet established job requirements.
- Present qualified candidates to hiring managers with clear and accurate screening notes.
- Coordinate interviews, confirmations, reminders, offers, and candidate follow-up.
- Build and maintain active candidate pipelines by trade, skill set, location, and experience level.
- Support direct-hire and placement recruiting across multiple locations and labor markets.
- Maintain accurate candidate notes, statuses, documentation, and activity within the ATS.
- Assist with onboarding requirements, including applications, I-9 documentation, drug screenings, and other pre-employment steps.
- Monitor local labor-market conditions, compensation trends, candidate availability, and competitor activity.
- Support career fairs, hiring events, trade-school partnerships, community events, and workforce-development initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, candidate communication, efficiency, and hiring outcomes.
- At least three years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience
. - Previous experience recruiting for skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, service, or maintenance positions
. - Experience recruiting HVAC service technicians, electricians, plumbers, sheet metal mechanics, or similar field-based professionals is strongly preferred.
- Direct-hire or placement recruiting experience.
- Experience supporting multiple hiring managers, departments, requisitions, or locations simultaneously.
- Strong sourcing, screening, candidate-management, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using ATS platforms, Indeed, Linked In Recruiter, job boards, social media, and other sourcing tools.
- Ability to evaluate technical résumés and determine whether candidates meet position requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with urgency while maintaining candidate quality and accurate documentation.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to move recruiting priorities forward without constant direction.
- Commercial or industrial construction recruiting experience.
- An established network within the construction or skilled-trades market.
- Experience building relationships with trade schools or workforce-development organizations.
