The Data Scientist SME serves as the senior technical expert guiding advanced data fusion, analytics, and automation capabilities for our customer. This role supports the research, development, and transition of next‑generation analytic tools into operational environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and mission relevance. The position leads technical activities that mature AI/ML models, advanced analytics pipelines, and automated workflows from concept through deployment.
The SME collaborates with mission partners, development teams, and acquisition organizations to evaluate technologies and integrate new capabilities into the enterprise ground architecture. Candidates must possess extensive experience in AI/ML, data engineering, prototype development, and managing complex technology maturation efforts within national security environments.

* Roles and Responsibilities:
*** Provide senior technical leadership in the design, development, evaluation, and operational transition of advanced data fusion, analytics, and automated workflow solutions.
* Lead the maturation of AI/ML capabilities through prototyping, proof‑of‑concept demonstrations, scaling activities, experimentation, testing, and operational deployment.
* Oversee technical efforts supporting analytic model development, data pipeline creation, data quality assessment, and algorithm performance evaluation.
* Manage technology transition initiatives, including identifying integration paths, assessing system impacts, and coordinating with operational stakeholders.
* Guide research and development activities focused on advanced analytics, automation, machine learning, and multi‑source data exploitation.
* Support acquisition planning by defining technical requirements, evaluating vendor capabilities, and contributing to concept development for new data‑driven systems.
* Maintain awareness of emerging analytic technologies and assess their applicability to mission challenges across the Ground Enterprise Division.
* Prepare technical artifacts such as data models, analytic specifications, evaluation reports, and transition readiness assessments.
* Coordinate with cross‑directorate engineering, mission operations, and software development teams to ensure analytic tools align with enterprise architecture goals.

* Basic Qualifications:
*** 15–20+ years of experience in data science, AI/ML development, advanced analytics, or related technical roles supporting national security space or Intelligence Community missions.
* Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
* Demonstrated experience leading AI/ML or advanced analytics development and transition efforts, including prototyping, testing, and operational deployment.
* Proven experience supporting technology maturation, system integration, or acquisition activities for complex analytic or software systems.
* Active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph.
