Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate report to a site location.

The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. It may involve participation in a primary responder rotation, monitoring data center infrastructure, coordinating responses to operational incidents, and partnering with other teams to rapidly resolve issues that impact service availability. Primary responder responsibilities may require evening, weekend, holiday, and/or night work to ensure our global data centers operate at the highest levels of reliability.

All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to success. In addition to hardware and network repair, candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, and fix problems within the data center space. This team operates 24/7. Traveling within and outside the regional work area is required.

All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
  • Work in an environment that operates 24/7 with the ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed
  • Work in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments
  • Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation

NOTE:

Amazon is not able to provide sponsorship now or in the future for these positions. Eligible candidates must have work authorization without employer intervention to be considered.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed
  • Serve as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
  • Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues
  • Help train and onboard new team members
A Day in the Life
  • Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution
  • Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context
  • Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting

You will be required to work shift work that will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Traveling within and outside of the regional work area is required.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field
