Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. It supports all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovations they rely on. The team works on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and welcomes talented individuals who want to help.
Key Responsibilities- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and troubleshoot network issues.
- Respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians or management as needed.
- Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance, change‑management activities, and primary responder rotation, including evening, weekend, holiday, and night work.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help train and onboard new team members.
- Manage work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in an environment that operates 24/7, including primary responder rotation and after‑hours support.
- Operate in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments.
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely without limitation.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- One or more years of relevant experience in data‑center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field.
- Associate’s degree or higher, or Network or Security certification.
- Experience working in a data‑center environment.
- Understanding of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- In‑depth hardware knowledge, e.g., PCIe.
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base and engage other teams when needed to drive resolution.
- Solve problems at their root and assess broader context.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Operate shift work that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays; travel within and outside regional work area is required.
Starting pay ranges from $27.00 to $48.00 USD hourly, depending on location.
