Digital Forensics Specialist

CGS is searching for a Digital Forensics Specialist who will play a key role in the collection and preservation of data from mobile devices and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will be well‐versed in various forensic technologies and eager to take on a significant role within our rapidly growing forensics team. This position involves both travel for on‑site data collection and time spent in our main office, which features a state‑of‑the‑art forensics lab and data center.

Key Responsibilities- Conduct forensic data collection and basic analysis on‑site and remotely.
- Collaborate directly with legal teams and client IT departments to define project scopes.
- Update and maintain the forensic toolset to keep abreast of new versions and market options.
- Work closely with project management and other team members to complete complex projects within tight deadlines.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and improving procedures to meet discovery process requirements.
- Uphold best practices for chain of custody in compliance with evidence rules.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures consistently.
- Conduct quality checks on work outputs before delivery to clients.
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by management, including general IT tasks.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Digital Forensic Science, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- 1+ years of relevant experience with a clear understanding of the forensic lifecycle, including scoping activities, evidence acquisition across various devices, and intermediate forensic analysis.
- Proficient in industry‑recognized forensic tools, including EnCase, Cellebrite, Oxygen, FTK Imager, Mac Quisition, X1 Social Discovery, and Logicube Falcon.
- General familiarity with Mac and Windows file systems, mobile devices, and encryption technologies.
- Experience in preserving diverse data sources, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, servers, cloud and on‑premise email systems, social media, and atypical cloud data, in a forensically sound manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non‑technical clients.
- Willingness to work extended hours if needed to meet client deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Readiness to travel frequently, often on short notice, and possess a valid passport for occasional international travel.
- Self‑motivated and energetic, able to work independently and collaboratively as needed.
- Ability to document forensic workflows that align with industry best practices.
- Eagerness to mentor and train other team members to enhance the group's overall expertise and support larger collection efforts.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the capability to troubleshoot effectively on the go.
- Understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).
- At least one relevant certification (e.g., EnCE, CCE, CCFE, GCFE, GCFA, CCO, CCPA, CCME).
- Working knowledge of litigation support applications such as Relativity, Concordance, Nuix, and LAW Pre Discovery.
- Experience with structured data analysis, custom scripting, and data manipulation to create client reports.
- Familiarity with (Robo/Rich) copy tools, BAT (Power Shell) scripting, and Active Directory.
- Experience in scripting, programming/coding, and using database languages (SQL, VB, HTML, Access).
