Position Description
Job Title:
Senior Network Engineer
Work Location:
Chantilly, VA
Design, integrate, and test network solutions.
Secondary FunctionDocument, maintain, and troubleshoot network implementations.
Responsibilities- Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, and cloud-based network solutions to optimize service delivery.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain and upgrade routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention, and access controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support deployments and cross domain issues.
- Lead or participate in network-related projects, migrations, and integrations.
- Document network topologies, configurations, and processes.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and security best practices.
- Provide Tier 3 support and mentor junior engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in network engineering roles.
- Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, etc.).
- Strong experience with Cisco or equivalent enterprise networking equipment.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and tools (firewalls, VPNs, NAC, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with enterprise network monitoring tools.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIS, JNCIE or AWS Networking Specialty are highly desirable.
- An existing DoD 8570 Baseline IAT Certification; higher levels preferred.
- TS or TS/SCI clearance preferred.
- Experience with SD‑WAN technologies.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.).
- VOIP and unified communications experience (e.g., Cisco CUCM).
- Experience with network segmentation and zero‑trust architectures.
- Self‑driven.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a team‑oriented environment.
