Training Specialist – Level II
Bay Systems Consulting is seeking a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Training Specialist – Level II to join our team in Chantilly, VA.
Responsibilities- Provide standards, services, and guidance on IT-related training programs that are designed to enable government agency personnel to use information technologies and systems more productively.
- Develop, deliver, and/or coordinate training courses and materials that address specific agency needs.
- Conduct training needs analysis.
- Design curriculum for distance learning materials, including content outlines, learning objectives, interactive simulations, and knowledge assessment questions.
- Review application development user stories and features to determine training impact and conduct the research necessary to develop and revise training materials.
- Develop interactive training, including storyboard development, screenshot capture, custom template programming, and internal review processes that adhere to existing standards.
- Conduct peer and design reviews of training material for accuracy.
- Maintain policy and standards for online training throughout the development process.
- Ensure training content is accurate based on outside feedback.
- Monitor training changes and updates for dissemination and implementation.
- Prepare training documentation.
- Analyze existing training materials and recommend updates to satisfy customer objectives.
- Coordinate training activities and scheduling according to the training program.
- Manage multiple training projects simultaneously, organizing, planning, and executing small‑scale training projects from vision through implementation.
- Establish a project training plan, including audience, approach, design, and list of deliverables.
- Use independent decision-making to design and develop training materials, reference materials, presentation materials, and job aids.
- Prepare student materials including course manuals, workbooks, instructor notes, handouts, and course evaluation forms.
- Ensure all training materials are clear, concise, instructionally sound, and directly support learning objectives; ensure 508 compliance.
- Work with the learning management system administrator to assign training, upload training materials, track completions, and report metrics.
- Provide support for coordinating, developing, and delivering remote training to the user community.
- Provide second‑level support and coordinate training with help desks.
- Train personnel by conducting formal classroom courses, workshops, and seminars.
- Prepare reports and monitor training tasks in support of the Contractor Program Manager and government sponsor(s) using standard training standards and software.
- Provide input to the Training Manager and Contractor Program Manager on areas of continuous improvement.
- Work on all assigned duties by management.
- 5 years of experience in Information Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Instructional Systems Design.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision‑making.
- Experience in Customer Service.
- Understanding of computer functions and related technical terminology applied in everyday business situations.
- Thorough knowledge of appropriate hardware and software (e.g., PCs, Microsoft Windows, MS Office).
- Experience using Microsoft 365 productivity tools.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (preferred).
- Experience with multimedia development tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia, etc. (preferred).
- Experience with webinar software such as Webex, MS Teams, Zoom, etc. (preferred).
- Experience with Service Now and Salesforce (preferred).
- Prior technical training experience (preferred).
Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or information technology, or equivalent information technology certifications (MS‑MCT, CompTIA CTT+, SAFe, etc.).
Security Clearance- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
- A current and active Secret clearance is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 50% of the time.
- Must be able to deliver clear and effective communication, both verbally and non‑verbally, including updates and briefings, and interface with co‑workers and leadership as well as customers.
- Must be able to work in an office environment and move freely within the space to use office equipment and interact with co‑workers and customers.
- Must be able to effectively use IT peripherals such as laptop, desktop, printer, and fax machine.
- Must be able to deliver presentations as needed.
- Must be able to review, decipher, and understand program manuals, IT service requests, and work orders.
