Job Summary
The General Superintendent is the overall manager on a large and/or complex project. The General Superintendent ensures that all contracted work is developed, implemented, installed and managed in accordance with the Company's requirements, including but not limited to safety, quality, management and financial performance requirements. All aspects of the assigned project must be carried out efficiently with respect to staffing, materials management, financial management, customer care and delivery goals.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline and discharge all project‑related staff.
- Manage all human resource issues per Company policies and procedures and provide recommendations for performance ratings, promotions and pay changes.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to meet customer and Company goals and objectives.
- Act as senior Company liaison for operational interface with customer representatives.
- Plan, manage, monitor and maintain project profitability to achieve Company goals.
- Ensure deadlines are met per customer requirements and manage overall workload distribution, staffing levels and customer delivery progress.
- Ensure successful job completion, productivity, budget compliance and perform quality checks to prevent outages.
- Prepare invoices, customer collections and periodic financial reporting to the customer and management.
- Complete all IES and project paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and job closing packages.
- Execute day‑to‑day job walks to ensure quality and prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings.
- Serve as main on‑site customer contact for questions and concerns; attend facility and construction meetings when required.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, reviewing and monitoring operational processes for accuracy, completeness, and efficiency.
- Develop, redesign and implement process improvements to reach effective levels.
- Collaborate with the Training Department to monitor quality and safety issues; promote safety as the first priority.
- Lead assigned operations meetings and training sessions; manage tools and truck inventory/maintenance.
- Complete any other responsibilities as assigned.
Min USD $35.00/Hr. Max USD $43.00/Hr.
- Prefer a minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory or managerial experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
- Proficient with a computer and skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
- Good driving record meeting Company minimum driving standards.
- Demonstrated ability to define a project, create scope of work, estimate, develop detailed tasks and manage to completion and customer turnover.
- Must be able to use trade tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt‑ohmmeter, 4‑pair continuity tester and 5‑gang punch tool.
- Minimum Years of
Experience:
6+. - License required; no minimum education beyond high school.
- Must be self‑motivated, positive, professional image, promote Company culture and mission.
- Possess proven problem‑solving, critical thinking, reading, writing and oral presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills; develop processes and best practices.
- High skill level to interpret blueprints and project documents.
- Must travel within branch or regional territory as needed.
- Must learn and teach company and customer project management systems.
- Must work at heights, off ladder and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 lb and move up to 75 lb; stand and walk large job sites.
- Must see and distinguish colors, read small print, hear audible signals.
