Peterson Companies, proudly recognized as a top workplace, is seeking an experienced Senior Property Manager to lead operations, maintenance, and financial performance of assigned properties on a large government campus in Chantilly, Virginia. This role is responsible for ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with federal, contractual, and security requirements. The Senior Property Manager will serve as the primary point of accountability for assigned properties within the campus and will mentor and lead a team of facilities and property staff supporting a secure government environment.
Qualifications- U.S. Citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility)
- Active Top Secret clearance, or eligibility for and willingness to apply for and maintain one
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business, Real Estate, or related field
- 10+ years of property or facilities management experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role
- Proven experience managing large campus, commercial, or government facilities
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of facility compliance requirements in a secure environment
- CPM (Certified Property Manager), CFM (Certified Facilities Manager), or similar industry certification
- Proficient with property management and accounting software (Maximo, MRI), Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Oversee daily operations of a large government campus, including assigned buildings, grounds, and shared infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with government contract requirements, facility security standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure standards for maintenance, life-safety systems, and physical security are met
- Coordinate with government stakeholders on operational matters
- Manage vendor, contractor, and subcontractor relationships
- Prepare, manage, and monitor operating budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
- Analyze monthly financial statements and variance reports, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Review and approve invoices, manage purchase orders, and support cost tracking for government contract deliverables
- Support annual budget planning, capital improvement projects, and facility lifecycle planning
- Work with technical managers to oversee preventive maintenance programs for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, access control)
- Manage capital improvement and renovation projects, ensuring work is coordinated with security and operational requirements
- Maintain accurate facility records, inspection logs, and documentation for government audits and reviews
- Ensure all facility operations align with government security requirements, including access control and visitor/escort procedures
- Partner with security personnel to maintain compliance with physical security and personnel security protocols
- Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and incident response for the campus
- Supervise, train, and mentor property management staff
- Conduct performance reviews and support staff development
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture in a secure, mission-focused environment
