For over 50 years, CRi has empowered individuals with developmental disabilities, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and those experiencing homelessness through compassionate, person-centered services.

We re looking for a strategic and relationship-driven Director of Development & Communications to lead our fundraising, marketing, volunteer engagement, and community outreach efforts while helping expand CRi s impact across Virginia and Maryland.

What You ll Do

As the Director of Development & Communications, you ll develop and execute strategies that strengthen CRi s financial sustainability and public presence by:

  • Leading annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsor ships, foundation partnerships, and grant initiatives.
  • Cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, community leaders, board members, and corporate partners.
  • Overseeing grant writing, donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns, and impact reporting.
  • Driving CRi s marketing and communications strategy across digital, print, media, and social platforms.
  • Managing volunteer recruitment, engagement, and recognition programs.
  • Representing CRi at community events, networking opportunities, and fundraising functions.
  • Supervising and developing a high-performing Development & Communications team.
  • Collaborating closely with executive leadership to support CRi s long-term strategic growth.
Requirements


What We re Looking For



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and donor engagement.
  • Experience leading fundraising campaigns and managing donor relationships.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with nonprofit boards and volunteer leadership.
  • Knowledge of donor database and fundraising CRM platforms.
  • Passion for advancing the mission of organizations serving individuals with disabilities and behavioral health needs.
