Nursing Supervisor
Licensed healthcare professional responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in accordance with physician care plans and organization policies. Conduct patient assessments, care planning, education, and evaluate progress towards goals. Maintain clinical competency with 20-40% direct patient care. May serve as alternate administrator or director of nursing for Medicare Certified Home Health agencies.
Job Responsibilities- Competent in the clinical management of home infusion patients, including patient management skills, the nursing process, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for home health agencies.
- Knowledgeable of documentation and billing requirements for home health/infusion care goods and services.
- Determine suitability of patients for home care.
- Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care, including home evaluations of field staff when appropriate.
- Review and monitor appropriateness of nursing care plans, directing staff to modify plans as needed.
- Act as administrator and/or director of nursing for Medicare certified home health agencies in the absence of a director or manager of nursing.
- Manage daily activities regarding effective operations and communications, ensuring compliance with governing and accreditation entities; comply with reporting requirements; ensure policy and procedure adherence; monitor and evaluate medical supply usage.
- Participate in assessing, managing, and reporting nursing operational and financial data to the Regional Nurse Manager, Area Director of Nursing, and/or Director of Operations; support the development and implementation of the plan of care for each patient.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and participate in office-specific continuing education and orientation programs; assist in recruitment, development, and monitoring of new staff; coordinate and participate in on‑call responsibilities; maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
- Participate as a member or lead the professional advisory committee, infection prevention, and process improvement teams; conduct chart audits; identify opportunities for improvement and communicate to leadership; speak knowledgeably of available services and support sales professionals.
No supervisory responsibilities.
BasicEducation and/or Experience Requirements
- Registered Nurse with a license in the current state of practice and at least 1 year of nursing supervisory/charge experience, or at least 3 years of relevant nursing experience with demonstrated progression.
- Required certification in CPR.
- Member of a state or national professional organization.
- Access to reliable transportation enabling home visits; personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance if applicable.
- Experience applying knowledge of local, state, federal, accrediting body, and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
- Experience in indirect management of team members, assisting in development, training, and assignment of work/projects to other team members.
- Ability to use time management skills such as prioritizing, organizing, tracking details, and meeting deadlines for multiple projects.
- Basic level skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including standard editing, formatting, and document functions.
- Experience developing ways to accomplish goals with little or no supervision, determining when escalation is necessary.
Willing to travel at least 50% of the time for business purposes within and outside the state.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests- BSN degree.
- CRNI or other professional certification.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a hospital or home health care setting.
- At least 1 year of experience in indirect management of team members, assisting in development, training, and assignment of work/projects to other team members.
