The Senior Quotations Specialist supports the day‑to‑day operations of the Quotations team. The Senior acts as the technical and commercial authority for complex and high‑risk quotations, providing functional leadership for the quotation process across assigned projects. Responsibilities include providing takeoffs of bids and pricing functions, using senior level knowledge to determine product specifications, applications, and pricing, proactively working with engineers and customers, leading and participating in the quotation process, and coordinating feedback that informs pricing strategy, product positioning, and process improvements.

The role also offers guidance in purchasing functions, product evaluations, inventory management, and pricing development.

Essential Functions:

• Provide takeoffs of bids and pricing functions for complex products such as motor control centers, motor drives, control components, and specialty equipment.
• Use senior knowledge to make discretionary decisions regarding scope, configurations, risk assessment, margin strategy, and compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
• Work proactively with engineers and customers to meet evolving business needs and resolve issues, acting as an escalation point for highly technical or commercially sensitive matters.
• Lead and provide guidance during the quotation process for each assigned project, ensuring technical accuracy, commercial soundness, and alignment with company profitability and risk standards.
• Respond to customer inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
• Develop quotations and request bid/performance bonds, including approval‑level review and value‑engineering solutions.
• Provide consistent, responsive, quality service to customers.
• Translate customer data into recommendations for pricing strategy, product positioning, and process improvements.
• Offer guidance in purchasing, product evaluations, code descriptions, inventory management, and pricing development.
• Coordinate with BSE staff to resolve customer‑billing issues arising from quotations, pricing, shipping, or deliverable errors.
• Mentor and provide technical coaching to Quotations Specialists on complex projects, systems, and pricing strategies.

Non‑essential Functions:

• Provide input and market intelligence as required.
• Place and hold orders on secured projects, prepare submittal drawings, and release hold orders after approval.
• Obtain orders and provide sales support for the Border States outside sales force.
• Attend sales meetings and training programs as required.
• Participate in sales meetings and trade shows as needed.

• Minimum business or trade degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• At least four years of customer service, quotation, or sales experience with strong knowledge of electrical products and systems preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of product lines, alternate product substitutes, and supplier pricing policies preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English preferred.
• Strong PC skills for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Internet, email, and SAP software preferred.

• Strong technical ability to understand electrical systems and product applications, with prior electrical distribution experience preferred.
• Technical ability to read blueprints.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to plan and organize effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills, including competency, accuracy, responsiveness, and engagement.
