Ferguson has been a source of quality supplies for a variety of industries since 1953, building better infrastructure, homes, and businesses. This field‑based outside sales role serves customers in the DC/Northern VA area and requires a base salary plus uncapped commission, with an estimated total compensation range of $70,000–$95,000+.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with assigned customers and vendors, collaborating with other branch associates to ensure flawless service from order to delivery and beyond.
- Grow “share of wallet” spend with active, new, and inactive customers by developing trust‑based relationships.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer base, devising and implementing sales strategies in collaboration with management.
- Perform product quotations and resolve customer issues with a focus on outstanding service.
- Analyze competition within the territory, developing and communicating sales strategies to management.
- Continuously improve sales skills and product knowledge to maintain a professional image and boost performance both in the field and internally.
- Document all sales activities in our internal CRM tool (Salesforce) and Map My Customer to evaluate the new business pipeline and measure sales closure results.
- Minimum of 2–3+ years of industry‑related outside field sales experience (distribution and/or manufacturing).
- Experience and success within the Hospitality vertical, working with General Managers, Facility/Maintenance supervisors, and engineers.
- Strong problem‑solving, leadership, and active listening skills.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to multi‑task, learn quickly, and retain information.
- Driven to meet objectives while possessing solid communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
