Summary

Located in Chantilly, VA, the Electronic Technician III plays a critical role in supporting Chenega’s Security Strategic Business Unit and its Electronic Security Programs. This position brings advanced expertise in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex electronic security systems to ensure reliable protection across high‑security environments.

Responsibilities

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Read, interpret, and apply building plans and technical blueprints to support accurate installation and configuration of electronic security systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate electronic test equipment—including meters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic tools—to ensure system accuracy and reliability.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and service low‑voltage DC electronic and electromechanical systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with technical standards.
  • Perform bench‑level repairs on electronic, electrical, and electromechanical components, including detailed component‑level diagnostics and corrective actions.
  • Support AC power distribution systems, including motor‑generator operations, ensuring uninterrupted and stable power delivery to critical security infrastructure.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain motors, motor controls, disconnects, and relays, following safety and operational protocols.
  • Service and maintain HVAC systems to support operational continuity for sensitive equipment environments.
  • Install and maintain mechanical and electromechanical locking mechanisms, including electronic locks, strikes, and integrated door control systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot pedestrian and vehicular access control systems, including barrier arms, turnstiles, gates, and vehicle arrest/mitigation devices.
  • Install, operate, and maintain Closed‑Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, including cameras, monitors, switchers, and recording equipment for surveillance operations.
  • Test, calibrate, and maintain metal detection systems, including handheld and walk‑through units, to ensure accurate threat detection.
  • Support radio communications systems, including voice and digital networks, ensuring secure and reliable communication across operational areas.
  • Install, maintain, and repair Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) such as alarms, sensors, detectors, and control panels.
  • Maintain and support Public Address (PA) and emergency notification systems, including intercom networks and alerting devices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support mission requirements and evolving program needs.
Qualifications

You'll Bring These

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of hands‑on experience in non‑residential electronic systems installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting with a high school diploma or equivalent; OR
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supported by an AA/AS degree in Electronics or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution; OR,
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience supported by a BS/BA degree in Electronics or related field from an accredited institution.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of electronic fundamentals, including advanced circuit theory, electronic components, signal flow, diagnostics, and repair methodologies.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex electronic systems, using industry‑standard test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers) to perform accurate and efficient fault isolation.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with security technologies, including:
    • Closed‑Circuit Television (CCTV) systems
    • Access control and credentialing systems
    • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
    • Fire detection/alarm systems and integrated life‑safety components
  • Ability to configure, install, test, and maintain a wide range of low‑voltage and electronic security platforms used in commercial, industrial, or federal environments.
