American Home Contractors is a top-tier solar roofing company specializing in high-quality installations for Tesla Solar Roofs, GAF Solar Shingles, and traditional PV systems. Our Solar Division is dedicated to providing outstanding services to homeowners throughout the Northeast. We are actively seeking passionate and skilled Solar Technicians to join our team for the removal and replacement of solar systems, along with ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting.
Position OverviewThis exciting W2, full-time field role demands teamwork to effectively remove and reinstall residential solar systems, conduct site evaluations, and carry out system maintenance and minor repairs. You will collaborate closely with licensed electricians and roofing teams. Enjoy the convenience of a take-home company vehicle, with overnight travel required about 35% of the time.
Key Responsibilities- Remove and reinstall solar panels during roofing or system upgrade projects.
- Inspect systems for damage, wear, or inefficiencies during the removal and replacement process.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of solar panels.
- Secure racking, hardware, and panels in accordance with system specifications.
- Ensure clean and OSHA-compliant job sites.
- Work closely with licensed electricians on electrical tie-ins and troubleshooting.
- Document completed work and report any field issues promptly.
Preferred Experience
- 1+ years in solar installation, roofing, construction, or electrical trades.
- Familiarity with solar racking systems, tools, and safety practices.
- Willingness to work on rooftops, ladders, and in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, kneel, bend, and work on sloped surfaces.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (vehicle provided).
- Strong attention to detail and a collaborative team mindset.
- Must reside within 85 miles of our Columbia, MD warehouse, or be open to relocating.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- A basic understanding of PV systems or a willingness to learn.
- Take-home company vehicle and gas card.
- EZ Pass, iPhone, and iPad provided.

Overnight travel is necessary approximately 35% of the year, covering MD, VA, DC, PA, WV, DE, and NJ. All travel expenses are fully compensated, including lodging and per diem.
