MEI Rigging & Crating is seeking a Rigger to set up, assemble, or disassemble rigging for machinery moving, millwrighting, and industrial installation across various industries. The role requires hands‑on rigging work, vehicle operation, and teamwork in a safety‑first environment.

Position SummarySet up, assemble, or disassemble job‑specific rigging, selecting proper gear and equipment based on size, weight, and movement requirements. Responsibilities include manipulating rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to safely secure machinery, tools, and equipment for relocation and transportation. Riggers may also drive a commercial vehicle, perform maintenance, welding/fabrication, or warehouse functions as needed.
EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Visually inspect and test rigging materials for safety and reliability.
- Align, level, and anchor machinery or equipment.
- Use hand and/or power tools to attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare for moving.
- Select appropriate gear such as cables, pulleys, vices, winches, etc., based on load weights, sizes, and job specifications.
- Remain aware of obstacles, surrounding structures, barriers, and other people.
- Signal or verbally communicate with workers to ensure safety during hoisting, suspending, and moving loads.
- Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials, heavy equipment, and/or machinery.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chainfalls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
- Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi‑point suspension techniques.
- Install ground rigging for yarding lines utilizing chokers, logs, and other tools as necessary.
- Assist in fabrication, setup, and repair of rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
- Dismantle, inspect, clean, organize, and store rigging equipment after use.
- Operate and maneuver forklifts, scissor lifts, aerial lifts, and other mechanized equipment.
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of machinery moving experience or comparable field experience in the construction service industry.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- OSHA 10 for Construction certification.
- OSHA 30 preferred but not required.
Work is physically demanding, requiring climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds. The role involves work at varying heights, often in non‑temperature‑controlled environments and outdoors in all weather conditions, on uneven ground.
