Low Voltage Technician

As a Low Voltage Technician, you will learn and develop the necessary skills to become an effective member of a technical team. With typically one year of experience in the structured cabling industry, you will be responsible for various installation tasks including work area outlets and cable routing.

• Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and wall using appropriate methods.
• Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods and route cable through modular furniture.
• Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables, and determine length, slack, and label cables.
• Suspend and support cables correctly using cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze.
• Build closets, mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
• Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Follow prints accurately.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.

• Experience in the construction industry, cabling, and cable termination testing.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Skills in terminating, pulling fiber, Cat 5, Cat 6, and fiber optic cables.

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.

The work site is based in Manassas, VA with flexibility required for other projects in Northern Virginia (NOVA). The schedule is Monday to Friday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with extended hours from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM as needed, including Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chantilly, VA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
