Software Engineer - Backend at Jacobs
We are looking for a backend software engineer to join our on‑site team in Northern Virginia. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable cloud and on‑premise services that enable our customers to meet national security missions.
Base Pay Range$/yr – $/yr
Responsibilities & Qualifications- Experience with cloud technologies and Dev Ops (AWS, Kubernetes)
- Apply knowledge of software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle
- Familiarity with coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, and testing
- Ability to design, build, test, and deploy within cloud technologies and on‑prem technologies using Dev Ops techniques
- Knowledge of Dev Ops/CI/CD tools and benefits
- Ability to interface with microservices and event‑driven architectures
- Experience with ticketing to create, manage, and close‑out development requirements
- Ability to collaborate with other developers to design and implement features
- Ability to mentor less experienced software engineers
- Proactively recommend where manual processes can be automated
- Proficient in Python, Java, or Go
- Knowledge of relational database fundamentals
- Dev Ops experience (version control, automated builds, automated testing, continuous integration with tools such as Gitlab)
- Self‑starter with strong innovative and analytical ability
- Possess TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly clearance
