Harris is looking for a self-starting, team-oriented Lead Software SME to join our dynamic development team in supporting a Government customer. The team is building a large-scale enterprise application in the national security space domain using web technologies, distributed computation and storage frameworks, and sophisticated, cutting-edge domain analytics, with the system hosted on virtualized and cloud-computing platforms. The Lead Software SME will guide the software team by aligning development needs with customer expectations and requirements.

Support to the team will involve performing analysis with software tools supporting modeling and simulation. This position is within L3

Harris's Space Domain Awareness division.

Essential Functions:

• Support software development team by creating models, simulations, and analysis tools to support national security space analysis activities. Perform technical planning, design & generation of test data, system integration, verification and validation, and support test activities.
• Responsible for algorithm development, quantitative analysis, orbit determination, decision analysis, capability analysis, system engineering requirements analysis and trade studies, analyses of alternatives, design of experiments, and architecture analysis in support of the software development team.
• Provide leadership and foster collaboration with engineers from various engineering disciplines to determine and develop functional and non-functional requirements of new and existing capabilities.
• Providing technical guidance and assisting the development team throughout the software development life cycle.
• Interact with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables.
• Serve as a technical lead for aspects of a project.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret or TS/SCI, consent to CI Poly
• 9+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Software, Aerospace, Space Systems or other Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline. Alternatively, 7 years of prior related experience with a Graduate Degree.
• Experience working with software development teams and associated Agile development processes
• Experienced in decomposition of govt requirements to system, subsystem and component requirements
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Linux
• Experience with both Waterfall and Agile approaches to Systems Engineering
• Experienced in gaining trust of direct customer, their end user/operators, and a development team

Skills:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance w/CI Poly
• Experience in supporting modeling, simulation, and analysis of national security space related problems desired
• Aerospace Software Tools: STK/Astrogator, ODTK, Astrodynamics Standards Workbench
• Experienced with projects focused on SW development and rapid integration into working prototypes
• Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Experienced in setting up new development projects in a schedule driven environment
• Experienced with Unified Modeling Language (UML) and System Modeling Language (SysML)
