Job DescriptionThe Software Engineer will serve as a technical lead responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and implementing enterprise-scale data processing and software solutions. The position will lead technical teams and design efforts supporting the management, processing, storage, and retrieval of high-volume, disparate, and near-real-time data. The Software Engineer will work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to identify technical needs, develop innovative solutions, resolve complex production issues, and ensure solutions meet mission and user requirements.
The role requires strong experience across software engineering, cloud architectures, distributed systems, data platforms, APIs, databases, infrastructure, security, testing, and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The Software Engineer will also provide technical leadership, customer engagement, project briefings, and strategic technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a technical team in designing, developing, integrating, and implementing data processing solutions, ensuring effective data management, storage, retrieval, and troubleshooting of data-related issues, while participating throughout the SDLC, including requirements analysis, architecture and design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Solicit and identify customer and user needs and translate those needs into effective data, software, and technology solutions, ensuring project objectives and technical deliverables are achieved on schedule and meet user, functional, business, and mission requirements.
- Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and solution development activities, including the design and engineering of integrated technical solutions capable of processing and exploiting disparate, high-volume, and streaming data to support near-real-time operational requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed systems and big data platforms, and integrate modern technologies and capabilities into existing systems to improve functionality, scalability, performance, and mission effectiveness.
- Support the transition of legacy IT solutions to cloud environments and engineer solutions that leverage cloud-native capabilities, while driving continuous improvement, modernization, automation, and innovation across software development and engineering processes.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production and data-related issues, while identifying, assessing, and mitigating technical and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as a primary technical liaison with customers and cross-functional stakeholders, providing regular project updates, status reports, technical briefings, strategic insights, project briefings, and technical presentations; managing expectations; supporting customer satisfaction; and communicating clearly, candidly, and continuously with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, architects, infrastructure teams, security teams, customers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align technical solutions with business and mission objectives and ensure successful project execution and delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
