Position SummaryThe Logistics Coordinator has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities, assigned daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Lead is responsible for oversight of associates dedicated to the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in their area, consistent with company service and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Training Responsibilities:
- Mentor and train new and existing associates in distribution activities to meet customer demands.
- Train associates on current SOPs for shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
- Assist with forklift operation and certification.
- Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities:
- Oversee unloading of inbound shipments, stack product, and stage outbound shipments to maximize productivity.
- Verify inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers and ensure accurate counts.
- Load orders into appropriate doors and trailers efficiently.
- Address discrepancies in shipping/receiving.
- Customer Service:
- Conduct professional appearance and communications.
- Communicate with customers via phone, email, or in person.
- Prepare activity reports for site management.
- Quality Control Responsibilities:
- Use documentation to ensure products/orders are correct and accurately picked.
- Verify products meet quality standards, report damages or discrepancies.
- Card, package, shrink wrap, and label products as needed.
- Report inconsistencies to Operations Supervisor or Manager and participate in quality meetings.
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
- Comply with ISO, OSHA/MSDS, and company policies.
- Execute safety protocols and maintain a clean, orderly warehouse.
- Participate in safety meetings.
- Labor Management:
- Direct warehouse work team to achieve objectives.
- Assist associates with productivity sheets and payroll hour capture.
- Assist supervisor with workforce levels and schedule implementation.
- Ensure products handled per quality procedures.
- Responsibility and Authority:
- Participate in department meetings.
- Initiate actions to prevent non‑conformities and record problems.
- Report issues to the Quality Department immediately.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate sit‑down or stand‑up reach trucks, sweeps, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, aisle masters, pallet jacks, etc.
- Maintain equipment and report problems; perform daily forklift inspection.
- Keep active forklift certification.
- Maintenance:
- Assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform clerical tasks as directed (telephones, scheduling, record keeping).
- Work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year experience in logistics, distribution, or a relevant environment.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment.
- Work in unregulated temperatures (mild to moderate).
- Completion of a forklift training program (must have current forklift certification).
- 2–4 years experience in warehouse/logistics/distribution.
- 2–4 years proven forklift experience.
- Current or prior MHE certification.
- Occasional hand/finger manipulation, sitting, handling product and/or packaging.
- Frequent bending; constant walking and standing.
- Lift/carry and push/pull 21–50 pounds; reach above shoulder, outward, squat, or kneel.
- Other physical requirements as needed.
Rare exposure to fumes or airborne particles; moderate noise level.
CompensationBase pay $26.50/hour. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, education, certification, and location.
