Materials Supervisor

The position is responsible for supervising employees that maintain production standards to meet customers’ requirements, ensuring scheduling, productivity, labor controls, and efficiency standards while maintaining the highest level of quality and customer service on a daily basis.

• Ensure unit maintains production standards
• Maintain safety, quality, and compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company policies
• Establish and enforce labor controls that are effective
• Facilitate regular interdepartmental communication
• Work with management staff to improve unit performance
• Prepare management reports (e.g., attendance, HACCP, labor)
• Conduct performance evaluation, coaching, counseling, and corrective action in coordination with HR and other support functions
• Balance workflow and divide responsibilities among employees on each shift
• Determine and call in staff for staffing needs (sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.)
• Collaborate with department leaders to determine shift staffing levels
• Ensure compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including rest and meal breaks and process adherence
• Train and monitor employees on proper work procedures to maximize productivity while minimizing labor and food expenses
• Monitor daily manpower planning and schedule employees
• Promote employee retention and reduce turnover
• Ensure employees are in correct cost centers and job titles
• Verify union‑represented employees’ pay rates are correct based on wage scales and seniority
• Adhere to all required company policies, procedures, and processes, including training requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required;
  Associate’s degree preferred
• Experience: 2+ years supervisory experience in a high‑volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant, or catering environment (or equivalent) preferred

  Strong leadership; ability to manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees; previous labor relations experience a plus; comfortable providing daily feedback; excellent time management; multitasking; strong organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills; innovative and able to implement operational changes; basic computer skills with Microsoft Office;
  Serv Safe Certification required (preferred)
