Summary:
The Environmental Manager - Haz Waste administers environmental and waste-derived fuel programs following federal and state environmental laws and regulations. This position ensures compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, develops and implements waste management plans, and coordinates waste disposal activities. The position conducts inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential environmental hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them. The Environmental Manager - Haz Waste collaborates with other departments to develop and implement sustainable practices and promote environmental awareness among employees.
You’ll Be Contributing
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Manage the team to complete the preparation of air quality reports, air emissions and toxic release inventories, air pollution permit renewals and air construction permits.
- Coordinate and supervise stack testing activities, including Comprehensive Performance Tests and Confirmation Performance Tests under the Hazardous Waste Combustor MACT rules, and review/approve all stack testing reports.
- Ensure compliance with all water related rules including completion of discharge monitoring reports and/or other water pollution reports, where applicable.
- Prepare and maintain reports SPCC, SPPP, Solid waste management, permit renewals, waste minimization, and all corrective action requirements required by the facility’s RCRA permit.
- Remain compliant with applicable air regulations including NESHAP and NSPS and associated periodic reporting.
- Remain compliant with applicable Hazardous Waste Management RCRA permit requirements and associated periodic reporting.
- Perform audits of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) data acquisition system and maintain/administer changes as needed.
- Work with Waste Fuels Manager to provide daily coverage of essential daily regulatory functions.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental permits and all applicable federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Manage hazardous waste inspections, documentation, quarterly and annual reporting, fuel approvals and logistics, customer interface, and plant coordination of fuel supply and personnel.
- Ensure that corporate, departmental, and plant safety goals and initiatives are trained and tracked at all levels of responsibility, including participation in Joint Company-Union Safety Committee and Plant Safety Leadership Committee, and adherence to Life Saving Rules (LSR) and area inspections.

14001 procedures are followed and updated, including quarterly EMS Meetings and Monthly CMS Calls. - Collaborate with corporate environmental personnel on contracts with training consultants when needed.
- Coordinate all training efforts and goals with the Waste Fuels Supervisor, Plant Environmental Engineer, Safety Manager, Corporate Environmental Engineer, and Director of Environmental Affairs.
- Facilitate all communication with plant, corporate, legal, and regulatory agencies to ensure ongoing compliance with all regulations.
- Participate in projects involving environmental issues including contact with regulatory agencies and accompanying inspectors during inspections.
