Position: Truck Driver Job Description
  • Ensure safe and timely transportation of goods and materials from one location to another
  • Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and safety standards
  • Represent the company professionally as a brand ambassador in all customer and public interactions
  • Optimize delivery routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel consumption
  • Ensure cargo integrity through proper loading, securing, and unloading procedures
  • Maintain vehicle reliability and safety through regular inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Support supply chain operations by meeting delivery schedules and maintaining accurate documentation
Responsibilities
  • Drive long distances to deliver goods to customers across regional or national routes
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring items are properly secured in the vehicle
  • Plan routes using GPS systems and maps to meet delivery schedules efficiently
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections for mechanical issues and safety concerns
  • Complete and maintain accurate logs of activities, mileage, fuel consumption, and hours of service
  • Record cargo deliveries and verify that inventory matches shipping documents
  • Follow all traffic laws and truck driving safety regulations regarding size, weight, route designations, and break periods
  • Refuel vehicle, clean truck, and perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking or replacing oil
  • Report road incidents, accidents, mechanical problems, and vehicle defects to dispatchers and management immediately
  • Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion to adjust routes as needed
  • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions at docks and warehouses
  • Maintain positive and professional interactions with customers during deliveries
  • Transport hazardous materials when required, following special safety precautions
  • Keep commercial driver license and all certifications current and up to date
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Clean driving record with no recent moving violations
  • No serious tickets or accidents in the last 5 years
  • No DWI/DUI convictions in the last 10 years
  • Must pass drug and alcohol testing
  • Current medical certificate meeting DOT requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience
  • Proficiency in driving, maneuvering, and parking large commercial vehicles
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods, perform vehicle maintenance, and lift at least 25 pounds
  • Hands-on experience with electronic equipment including GPS, AVL units, and CB radios
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, extended hours, and holidays as needed
  • Strong communication skills and dependable work ethic

Skills & Qualifications
  • Current TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card
  • Professional truck driving school diploma or certification
  • 3+ years of long-haul or over-the-road (OTR) driving experience
  • Experience transporting hazardous materials with appropriate endorsements
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and basic vehicle repair
  • Familiarity with automated logistics systems and macro input procedures
  • Proven ability to adapt to unexpected situations including traffic delays and weather conditions
  • Customer service experience and sales skills
  • Experience working with various cargo types including food products and livestock
  • Strong record-keeping abilities and attention to detail in documentation
