ACCOUNTING MANAGER POSITION

Reports To:

Chief Financial Officer Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the daily operations of our accounting department, currently comprised of one other team member. This position reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for all aspects of accounting for assigned development and construction projects.

The Accounting Manager will work closely with the CFO, Project Managers, investors, banks, and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting and finance experience within the real estate development or construction industry, along with solid job cost accounting expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support accounting team members
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all accounting functions
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
Project Accounting
  • Oversee all accounting functions for assigned projects
  • Process and review project draws
  • Manage job cost accounting and detailed cost tracking
  • Monitor budgets and assist with variance analysis
Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Ensure proper coding, approvals, and timely payments
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements
  • Lead month‑end closing processes
  • Assist with year‑end closing and related projects
  • Coordinate with external accountants and auditors as needed
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Partner with the CFO on financial reporting and strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on financial performance and forecasting
  • Support lender reporting and compliance requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in real estate development or construction
  • Strong job cost accounting experience
  • Experience supervising or managing accounting staff
  • Advanced proficiency in Quick Books, Yardi, Enumerate, and Excel
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
