Overview
Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing, community-focused healthcare system. A hands-on accounting leader who builds processes, improves efficiencies, and makes a meaningful impact within communities across Central North Carolina.
Responsibilities- Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
- Oversee annual audits, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and financial policies.
- Manage grant accounting and ensure compliance with federal funding requirements.
- Partner with executive leadership to improve processes, strengthen financial operations, and drive organizational effectiveness.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Maintain banking relationships and support cash management activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to support financial accountability across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within healthcare or nonprofit organizations.
- Experience with grants accounting, financial compliance, and audit management.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and execution.
