AboutThe Role
The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for overseeing the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the company’s general ledger and financial reporting processes. This role supports and executes month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and compliance with U.S. GAAP (and IFRS where applicable).
The GL Accountant plays a key role in strengthening internal controls, supporting audits, and ensuring financial accuracy across domestic and international entities. This position will be critical in supporting scalable financial infrastructure as the organization prepares for continued growth and potential IPO readiness.
What You’ll Do- Own and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Manage intercompany accounting and eliminations.
- Maintain chart of accounts integrity and consistency across entities.
- Manage fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and capitalized projects.
- Own and execute treasury, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions.
- Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Support consolidated reporting for multi-entity operations (U.S.).
- Assist in preparation of management reports and board-level reporting packages.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Support implementation of SOX-compliant processes (if applicable).
- Serve as primary liaison for external auditors related to GL activity.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Strengthen internal controls and documentation standards.
- Identify and remediate control gaps.
- Maintain GL structure within ERP system (SAP experience preferred).
- Partner with IT and Finance to improve automation and reporting capabilities.
- Standardize closing procedures and documentation.
- Implement best practices for financial governance and data accuracy.
- Collaborate with FP&A on forecasting and variance analysis.
- Support Payroll & Benefits for payroll journal accuracy.
- Partner with Tax advisors for provision and compliance support.
- Work closely with Operations for inventory and COGS accuracy (especially in manufacturing environments).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
- A minimum of 4–5+ years of progressive accounting.
- Experience managing full-cycle month-end closing.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and best practices in financial management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proficiency in financial software like SAP and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and solve complex finance challenges.
- Highest level of integrity, confidentiality and dependability with a strong sense of urgency.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to communicate effectively in person and via phone/video. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
