About CPAI
Most conversations about AI skills stop at whether people use these tools. The Center for Practical AI works on a harder question: whether people use them safely and sustainably.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the North Carolina Triangle through cohort-based training programs, in-person and online events, and applied research on healthy AI use. This hire is part of building the organization that delivers them.
You will inherit documented systems: contract templates, a grants calendar, posting playbooks, and platform checklists. Your job is to run them well and make them better.
What you'd own- Sales and contracts support (3–5 hrs/week): prepare and send client contracts from templates and track signatures through completion; handle follow-up for sales conversations — scheduling, sending information, chasing next steps; keep the CRM current, with every prospect touchpoint logged with an outcome. Over time, grow into fielding routine prospect questions about CPAI's offerings.
- Grant administration support (4–6 hrs/week): assemble submission packages, track deadlines, and maintain the grants calendar; complete and maintain funder registrations in state and local systems; keep the organizational records funders ask for — budget documents, policies, filings — current and findable.
- Learning platform administration (2–3 hrs/week): administer Thinkific — learner access, enrollments, cohort setup, and the course and site pages participants see. Engagement and content stay with the program team.
- Social media operations (~2 hrs/week): schedule and publish prepared content across CPAI's channels and flag replies that need a response. This is a posting and scheduling lane — content is drafted by the program team.
- Customer feedback and general administration (2–4 hrs/week): administer feedback collection for programs and route results to the team; correspondence follow-through and document management.
What success looks like in 90 days:
No missed deadlines in your lanes. No grant, contract, or client commitment slips.
The Thinkific learner hub is set up and live, running without founder involvement.
CPAI's nonprofit administration is current. As a young organization we carry a backlog of organizational records, policies, funder registrations, and filings; you'd work through it alongside the founder and leave it in a state where nothing is overdue and everything is findable.
The 90 days run against a defined task list and close with a written review together.
Who you are- Administrative or operations experience where details mattered — contracts, applications, or compliance work you can describe.
- An organized tracker of many small moving pieces. Deadlines you own do not slip.
- Comfortable learning web platforms — CRM, LMS, scheduling tools — and troubleshooting without hand-holding.
- A clear, professional writer in client-facing email.
- Willing to learn CPAI's approach to healthy AI use, and to use these tools in your own work in a way that reflects what we teach. We'd expect the person running our operations to be a credible example of it.
- Interested in growing toward client-facing sales support.
- Thinkific or another LMS.
- Hands-on use of Claude or other AI assistants in day-to-day work.
- Nonprofit or grants exposure.
- Social media scheduling tools.
- You do not need to write code or have a technical AI background. We teach applied use, not machine learning.
- You do not need a specific degree. We care what you've run and how it went.
- You do not need to already know our tools. You need to be someone who learns tools fast.
- You do not need to meet every bullet above. If you meet most of them.
CPAI posts a pay range on every role. The range below is the real range; we don't negotiate down from a number we didn't publish. This is a W-2 employee position, not a contract role.
Posted range: $22–$28/hour
