The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is one of six health science schools at UNC‑Chapel Hill. It teaches approximately 600 Pharm

Position Summary

The Business Operations Officer will provide comprehensive administrative support for the Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery within the Division of Molecular Pharmaceutics. Responsibilities include purchasing, procurement, contract administration, general administrative services—facilities and space management, safety, property oversight—and human resources services as needed by the Director and/or PI. The role holds day‑to‑day management authority over grant management, budgeting, and financial operations, including billing and monitoring payments for the Center’s core facilities.

Public contact is a major component; the Officer interacts regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, other units, other universities, clients, funding agencies, and the public. The position is managed independently and reliably, without daily oversight or follow‑up.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences
  • Knowledge of appropriate business practices and procedures, particularly those governed under UNC and North Carolina state policies, NIH, and other funding agency guidelines
  • Financial management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive computer experience with word processing, database management, presentation software, and spreadsheets, including a strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products
  • Previous related administrative experience involving participation in planning and managing of a business and/or center, preferably in an academic setting
