Position Summary
The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina is seeking applications for a full‑time surgical oncologist to join our Division of Surgical Oncology. This position is an open‑rank, open‑track appointment at an FTE between 0.5 and 1.0.
The faculty member will be expected to perform clinical, research, and educational duties. Applicants should have significant experience in open and minimally‑invasive surgery for cancers of the liver, biliary tree, and pancreas.
The Division of Surgical Oncology includes 16 faculty members and 10 Advanced Practice Providers. Clinical responsibilities include multidisciplinary care, tumor boards, and surgical support of oncology programs.
Faculty are expected to regularly participate in education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and to commit to research in areas such as oncology clinical trials, outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery research.

- MD or equivalent.
- Fellowship trained in surgical oncology or hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery.
- Previous experience in caring for patients with HPB malignancies.
- Proficiency in robotics and minimally‑invasive surgery.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. Responsibilities include reporting Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and completing annual Clery training.
