The School of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill hires part-time adjunct instructors with professional practice expertise to teach one or more online courses in our MPA program. Our online teaching model is structured such that a lead faculty member records the course content and develops the assignments. The adjunct instructor leads live sessions and is responsible for guiding students through the synchronous components of the course, providing an in-depth exploration of the material by incorporating their professional insights.
Furthermore, the live session instructor is tasked with student communication, advising, and grading. Live sessions are conducted weekly for 90 minutes over a 14-week term.
A master’s in public administration or management, political science, public policy or related field.
Preferred Qualifications , Competencies, and Experience- A minimum of 10 years professional work experience in direct practice, community practice, management, policy practice and/or research in government is required.
- Additionally, one to two years teaching experience in public policy, government, political science or law at either the graduate or undergraduate level is preferred.
